Our official school year will still begin in September ... September 8, 2009. That day also commemorates the Birth of Mary. Our very first year of homeschooling started on the feast day of Pope St. Gregory the Great - that's a special name day for my oldest. I like to start after the Labor Day holiday because it just seems to fit our family. However, this year, we are going to start a few subjects in August. I want to get a jump start on ND History for Angelina, continue Sound Beginnings for Zeke and start Math for all the kids.
My lesson plans are completed for the coming year; I just need to import the lesson plans into each child's current year. I'd like to be done with that portion of preparation by August. These are the subjects each child will be studying in the coming year:

Wow, you are so organized and I love seeing what other people do! I'd love to see your time schedule too!
ReplyDeleteSarah had to cancel visiting yesterday, so it actually gave me a free day (it was raining) so I organized my school room and am now ready to order my things. It's always so exciting getting the new school stuff!!
you are very organized!
ReplyDeleteand i love ordering new books too. there is something about that first order of books which seems to be the fuel i need sometimes to get started.
i guess i'd better get this upstairs cleaned and organized so that we'll even have a place to do school!
and what a great day for your first day! :)
Hi Suzie,
ReplyDeleteI have been on the internet lately looking for homeschooling help & tips. I love reading your blog. I see you use Alan Jemison for piano. We have taken our two oldest to piano lessons to a woman in town for a few years but I am thinking about trying this instead. Your children do not go to a piano teacher, correct? I'm wondering how it is working out? I've gone to the website and it sounds great. I dread taking the kids to expensive piano lessons again.
