Joined up…

After seeing a few great deals on the Homeschool Buyers Coop, I decided to join and get in on the savings extended to homeschoolers.  They offer group  buying deals.  The more items purchased, the greater the price savings.  And, you can set the level at which you ‘want in’ on the savings.

The main reason I joined was to get a break on the cost of Dave Ramsey’s course for homeschoolers.

The plan is to have Dash go through the course and then his reward upon completion will be a checking account.  He’s old enough for the responsibility (already has a savings account and Paypal debit card) and we want him to learn financial responsibility while at home.  An extra workbook was ordered for Angelina, who will be completing the course in the future.

I do enjoy listening to Dave Ramsey on the radio.  He makes sense and gives advice from a Christian perspective.  We haven’t gone through his Financial Peace University, but I did purchase a few other resources for Eric and I (both audio and book format) with a group discount.

The First Post

Well, I didn't think I'd start another blog. However, I've had soo much fun with my cooking blog that I decided to give this a go. I really wanted something that would capture more of our life. So, this blog, Shepherding My Sheep, is about our family. At this point, I'm not sure who will be reading because I haven't decided to open it up! But, it's a record of our daily life ... the joys and struggles of raising our little flock to love life and the author of life, our Lord. The references to shepherd and sheep are numerous in the bible, and I have a special regard for sheep as animals, too. Sheep are stubborn, don't like change (that's not necessarily me, but for sure some of our family members would fit that description!), like to follow a leader, are loyal, and need protection at times. There are many similarities between Christ's followers and a flock of sheep, thus the name of this blog. I'm trying to 'shepherd' my little flock to know and love Christ - this is my vocation.
