Deer Hunting 2011

Our oldest is ‘old enough’ this year.  He was very excited to take part in the hunting party and not just as a ‘walker’.  My relatives and a few invited friends form a hunting party each year for the first weekend of the Deer Season.

The evening before and the morning of the opener is spent preparing equipment.  You might remember that my dad maps out the areas they’ll hunt…. I’m sure they spent part of the morning going over where they’d start the hunt.

Dash had a doe tag this year.  Although he got off a few shots, he didn’t get his tag filled on this trip.  He did however, shoot a coyote with his very first shot of the trip.

Deer Hunting 2010

This hunting crew includes my four brothers, my dad and a good friend, my brother’s father-in-law, my husband and my oldest son (who isn’t old enough to hunt, yet, but is certainly a help in walking the coulees!).  The guys didn’t much like having their picture taken … this is supposed to be a girl-free weekend.  However, my SIL, Anne, and I couldn’t resist!

They actually have a MAP!  I suppose to hunters this may be the norm, but I hadn’t ever considered hunting with a map before.  Interesting.

They didn’t get a single deer on Friday, which is very out of the ordinary for this crew.  Saturday and Sunday netted five total.  So, there will be deer sausage to enjoy in the new year.
