Monday DayLook: June 27, 2011

4-H

Looking out from my back porch... SUNNY!  A slight breeze with puffy clouds in the sky.

I am thankful for... my MIL, who is helping Angelina bake bread today!

I am reading… it’s the week of Achievement Days!  I have no time for reading, unless you count reading recipes, instructions, and the 4-H Achievement Day book.

I am hearing... Angelina, Zeke and Graham drooling over the fireworks advertizements/flyers.

I am wearing… denim shorts and a t-shirt.

From the sewing/craft room (aka. laundry room!)… nothing today … thankfully.

From the school room... still haven’t corrected that last paper of Dash’s.  I’m stalling as long as possible, quite possibly until August.

From the kitchen... Dash and Angelina are baking all their 4-H projects today.  We’ll all sample the leftovers.

From the Garden…  Onions and rhubarb need to be harvested later today and prepped for showing.  The onions look beautiful!

From the FarmYard…  sheep, pigs, rabbits and chickens are in various stages of prepping.  That means sheep have been sheared, pigs have had their bath, rabbits have been inspected and nails trimmed, chickens aren’t done yet.  Eric and the kids will ready all our feed and showing supplies so we’re ready to go on Wednesday morning.

I am praying for… my new God-daughter, who came into this world yesterday.  Her name is Juliet Rose Grant.  Cannot wait to meet her and snuggle her myself.  For those who know Sarah (the newly re-mommed), she’s doing well and may be able to come home early!!

A successful moment… we finished all the 4-H projects that were registered.

A few plans for the rest of the week…
Monday: Baking, final prepping of animals, packing up the static exhibits.

Tuesday: 4-H interview judging for static exhibits (Zeke, Dash & Angelina), interview judging for Sew & Show (Angelina), Project Expo (Dash), Consumer Choices contest (Angelina & Dash), Fashion Show (Angelina) & 4-H BBQ (ALL of us!).  Grandpa & Grandma Golden Acres will be coming to visit, as will my sister and her son.

Wednesday: Small animal judging, tractor driving contest, and large animal judging for Zeke, Angelina, and Dash.

Thursday:   Collapse and sleep!!  Sorry, no time for that.  Need to stash the messes and get ready for the BIG anniversary celebration weekend.

Friday/Saturday/Sunday:   Lahlum family pictures, Family meal, 50th Anniversary Celebration for my in-laws.

A picture memory... last year’s 4-H Achievement Days in June 2010 …. looking at these pictures makes me realize how much the kids have grown!

Remembering...

Today is our 15th wedding anniversary!

It honestly doesn't seem like it's been that long.  We sure have packed a lot of memories into that 15 years, and there isn't much I would change (except for a bit of my moodiness along the way - thank goodness there's still time to work on that).  There is absolutely nothing I would change about our wedding day ... I smiled the whole day and was just incredibly happy to be marrying Eric.  I am still incredibly happy to be married to this man.

We are planning a quiet (well, as quiet as it can be with 5 kids!!) evening at home.  The whole family will attend the vigil Mass at 5pm; Dash is signed up to serve.   I'm planning roast chicken as our main course for supper when we return from town.  Possible activities include watching a movie, snacking, playing Wii, snacking & counting down for the NEW YEAR.  Eric talked about borrowing Masterpiece (an art game) from his parents, too.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
