I ordered a CD set from the 11th Annual MN Catholic Home Education Conference. This is one of the best conferences ... no, I haven't been to any other homeschool conferences and yes, I am biased! I look forward to this event every year, but have probably only attended three in person. The used book sale is huge, the vendor hall is packed, and the speakers are always great. This year, the conference was on Angelina's sacrament weekend. It's a no-brainer which I attended.
So, for this year, I'll be having my own Catholic Homeschool Retreat - right here on the farm. The kids will be sent out to play (maybe I'll acquiesce to the demands and set up a sprinkler or the POOL!). I can sit out on the porch to observe the fun, but train my ear to the CD and the wonderful speakers and topics that were showcased this year.
Next year is already on my calendar .... hopefully, I'll be there with a baby in stroller or sling.
I just took a few moments to catch up with you! You sure have a lot going on with gardening and all. I am amazed by how much land you have, and your gardens are HUGE!! I do not have any gardening skills, but I do admire others' gardens. Perhaps in our new house I can carve out a section of our yard for something ... but something easy =) Enjoy your homeschool retreat! I hope the talks give you much inspiration.
ReplyDeleteSarah, you should try the square foot garden method. It's really small (I just have a lot of them) and you can actually plant quite a bit within the 'box'. You would only have to plant your favorites!
ReplyDeleteA lot of the land you see in the pictures is crop land. The land is planted with soy beans behind the garden, to the north and around to the front of our house.
My in-laws live on the other side of the tree rows that are edged by lilacs. It's nice to have them close and the kids love to run up there - sometimes too much!
