Happy December! I missed saying Happy Advent & Happy Thanksgiving … I was just too involved with the living of life in our active household to get online much the last couple weeks for anything beyond a DayLook type entry/post.
This is my favorite month of all. Besides Advent and Christmas, it includes my birthday and wedding anniversary. December is a month of wonderful celebrations and there is something to look forward to in each week. I enjoy the snow; this year I hope to actually learn to cross-country ski in our backyard. In a strange twist, Dash’s ski boots from last year are my size and he needed new boots (he’s not taller than me, but his feet are longer than mine)! The boots are made such that they are interchangeable with the skis; works well in a large family. We won’t be skiing at the same time, but that’s okay.
We are taking the day off from school on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. It took me a few years of homeschooling to realize that it’s ok and important to celebrate these important feast days by taking the day off from school. Even if we don’t have awesome activities planned (like some bloggers write about!), at least we are able to participate in daily Mass.
Well, back to real life. While I’d love to stay in this escape mode a while longer, the kids are getting louder with each keystroke…
December is a busy, exciting month!!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for me to take days off too, it's the perfectionist in me.
Happy December and a blessed Advent to you, too, Suzie!
ReplyDeletethat is so true about the daily mass, for what a better way to celebrate the feast!
ReplyDeleteI need to get back into the groove of daily mass.:(
Unlike most of you gals, I am so not a perfectionist. Everyday would be a feast day at my home if I homeschooled. I admire you gals who do it so well.
ReplyDeleteLet us know when your birthday is because we want to all send you bloggy wishes!
Ditto!
ReplyDeleteLots of joy, anticipation, excitement and family time during this beautiful month of December (not to mention those neat December b-days:)
Here's wishing you lots of fun on those XC skis - wish I could join you as it's one of my favorite and RARELY practiced winter activities!
Oh, and my kids are in awe that G's shoes are really longer than yours! :)
