today…

didn’t start off the best, but the day is gradually improving.  I’m sure somewhere there is a grand plan to MAKE me get over my perfectionistic tendencies.  Either I’m a slow learner, or I’m trying to get the answers to the lesson perfected!!  Regardless, I am being humbled.

So, I decided to get out from under the dark little cloud and started up a bit of music.  Music generally helps (unless the cacophony in the house over shadows it).

Listening to …

(his Ave Maria really is beautiful.  hit repeat a couple times.  then, there is the song with these lyrics: “just get me through another day.”  just what I need.)

Is it okay to just have Christmas cookies for lunch?? … and I don’t mean for the dessert portion.

The kindle is awesome!  Maybe it’s just the novelty, but it’s helped me find the time (or take the time) for just a few pages of faith-filled and spiritual daily reading, usually when I’m sitting down to nurse Louis.  “Small Steps for Catholic Moms” has been particularly helpful this week.  Even if it’s just the novelty, I hope it’ll help me start a new habit.

I have meant to show this knitting ‘thing’ I’m working on.  It is intended for a bag/satchel, but it’s just a big rectangle right now.  I wanted to become proficient at the basic stitch … is it called stockinette??  I’m not even sure of the correct terms.  It’s been fun and keeps my hands busy when watching a movie or TV show, but I don’t foresee this becoming a favorite past time.  I enjoy sewing much, much more and would rather be sewing than packing for a trip!  But, I’m not packing right now, either!!  Whatever I can do to put off preparations.  (Dear thieves, I’m not sure why you’d be reading my blog, but don’t bother using this info to your advantage … our farm is never left unattended … in-laws live right next door...and we have chickens that peck!)

Yesterday in Fargo, I picked up stollen … it’s not as yummy as the mini-stollen I wrote about earlier, but it’s still tasty.  We invited Grandma & Grandpa Green Acres and the Tante’s over tonight for a simple supper – Tomato soup and Grilled Cheese on Sourdough sandwiches.  Christmas Cookies will be served for dessert.

  1. I hope your day continues to get better, Suzie. I am feeling a bit stressed, too, and it's frustrating that I can't pitch in as much as I'd like to due to my recovery ... Sigh. It's still Advent. So, there's still time to pray, to make room for Him!

I like that Harry Connick Jr. Christmas CD, too ...

And the basic knit stitch (knit every row) is called Garter Stitch. Knit one row, purl the next is called Stockinette =) Oh, how I wish I could sew like you. But I am just grateful that I have picked up some type of needle art. And I am really growing to love knitting. Probably like you love sewing!

    Wishing you peace!

P.S. Christmas cookies for lunch is fine by me!

  2. Christmas cookies for lunch? Mais oui! But of course!

That is a really pretty pink color for the bag you're making - I hope you'll post a picture of the finished product!

I am hearing you about 'dark clouds' and coming out from under them! Kudos to you for recognizing the movement of the Spirit that day, and coming into the growing Light of Christ! Some days, that's all it takes -- just a little crack (in our routine, in our heart, etc), for Him to come in an make us over, the way He wants us.

    God bless, and Merry Christmas!
