For Today: Monday, December 20, 2010
Looking out from my back porch...another ‘snow event’ dropped about 5-7 inches in the backyard. I did drive today... it was fun!
I am thinking about ...there are a few items that NEED to be checked off the to-do list today. Also need to start thinking about food and packing for the ski trip.
I am thankful for...a 4-wheel drive vehicle, a warm house, school almost being done for this ‘year’, my lovely chickens and the eggs they produce, Christmas goodies, electronic gadgets, Tazo Chai tea, kids who minded their mother (today!).
I am reading... “Small Steps for Catholic Moms” by Danielle Bean & Elizabeth Foss (on my kindle!). I purchased this book and journal in print, but hadn’t used it yet. However, since purchasing it for my kindle, I’ve read it every day. I also read “Where Angels Go” by Debbie Macomber – it’s a quick, heart-touching read in the Christmas spirit.
I am hoping... for this quote to come true in my life and in the lives of those around me: “Father in heaven, give me a child-like joy at the coming of Christ. Brighten everything dark in my life with the radiance of your Son."
I am hearing...Louis is playing in the basement, so I can hear him chattering about the balls
I am wearing... jeans and a teal ls t-shirt.
From the sewing/craft room (aka. laundry room!)...still no completion on the stocking, but it’s in the sewing room…
From the school room... Angelina, Zeke andGraham are finished for the Semester. Dash has a couple days to go, but the load is MUCH lighter.
From the kitchen... my SIL gave me an assortment of German chocolates for my birthday. I am enjoying the treat. However, the Mini Marzipan Butter-Stollen she included in the basket are scrumptious. I may just be inclined to search for a recipe so I can enjoy these more often!
State of the house... we held a marathon cleaning session on Saturday. All is good, now and the mother is happier.
A successful moment... I am done shopping and the gifts are all wrapped.
A few plans for the rest of the week…
Monday: 4-wheeling in the snow ... just kidding! Finishing up the Christmas letters.
Tuesday: baking, washing clothes, and making my ‘trip’ lists
Wednesday: dental appts for Angelina and me
Thursday: lining up the clothes and food, in-laws over for a simple supper and visit
Friday/Saturday/Sunday: Merry Christmas with family
A picture memory …
My gadgets: I enjoy both of these.
Ok, my kids put the strangest things in the frig.
A CANDY CANE??!!??
My hubby enjoys his new ‘man’ toy – the snowblower attachment for the tractor. It makes life out here just a bit easier.
By the way, these snow pics are from LAST week, and don’t include the snowfall we received today. Lots of snow, lots of fun.
Not sure how much Graham can do with his orange shovel, but I suppose every little bit helps!
Wishing he was out to help in the snow – face pressed up!
Yes, I brought my camera to the birthday supper/party. But do you think I could remember to bring it into Santa Lucia’s or remember before guests had left the premesis?? NO. So, afterwards, get out to my car and see the camera … yell across the parking lot to my friend, Cindy (above), and my mom (below). That’s it. Pictures of me in the snow with my friend and my mom. The meal was wonderful and visiting fantastic. You’ll have to take my word for it!!
What beautiful pictures of your mom and C.T.!! And Eric out there with his new "toy". So cute to see Sweetcheeks with his face pressed up against the window watching!
ReplyDeleteSophia does that too - and now looks just like Louis from the back (and front!) as little E gave her an unauthorized haircut whilst I was at the Dr to FINALLY get some antibiotics.
(I finally realized after a MONTH that I couldn't get better on my own. What a month it's been! NOT a fun birthday at home with only Sophia and being sick all weekend!!) :)
Needless to say, a 5 yr old with tiny (and sharp!!) thread cutting scissors from her sister's sewing kit can REALLY cut (or shorn!) her little 2yr old sister's hair. And did I mention the stamp-shaped patch of bald above the hairline in front??
No injury happened, thank GOD, except for the red rear of the guilty party and loud admonishings aplenty from the whole family.
Good thing Christmas cards already went out and it's hat-wearing season. :) Thot you could use a chuckle from the Grants!
God bless the rest of your Advent season and have a blessed Christmas!! The Jesse Tree and O Antiphons will be awaiting us next Advent. I'm OK with that!
Love U!
About your "I am thinking about"...
ReplyDeleteDo you not find that it's one thing to have a To-Do list and quite another to know which item to attend to first?
Just...keep...plowing...along, I guess. So much to do! So little time!
(I love the "O" antiphons for this reason.)
(They--HE--are the real reason I'm going bonkers like this.)
(And do you know? I just typed "boing gonkers." Seriously.)
Love to the fam! Look for our card around Epiphany. :)
