This blog is a record of our daily life ... the joys and struggles of raising our little flock to love life and the author of life, our Lord. There are many similarities between Christ's followers and a flock of sheep, thus the name of this blog. I'm trying to 'shepherd' my little flock to know and love Christ - this is my vocation.
OK, question on SFG, I just bought the book and am going to try it this year....why are your sides so tall? He says in his book, only 6 inches. Just curious.
My sides are taller because I didn't build these. I used the leftover corrugated plastic boxes, mounted on pallets, that our stones were shipped in. Didn't make sense to me to purchase & build when these were sitting in the yard, available & the right dimensions otherwise ... that and I was pregnant! I actually like that they are taller than the 6"; it was so nice to just sit on the side of the bed last year. I know it's not practical or even available for everyone, but it worked for us!
I also think some crops, mainly carrots, need a little more depth. The varieties I plant will usually grow deeper than 6inches. For other veggies, it won't be a factor. Hope you have a great experience with SFG.
