I refuse to buy white socks for my kids – after they are at the stage of walking and wearing rubber boots. This rule used to encompass only the boys, but I’m extending it to all kids, now. We just have too much mud and muck for me to mess around with white.
I have found that if I buy black or dark socks, I’m a better person. I don’t worry about stains on dark socks because I don’t HAVE to worry about stains on black (or dark) socks. The sight of stained white socks just gets me livid.
If we buy white socks, they only stay white from the time they are taken out of the bag until the first wearing … why bother!! I don’t like bleaching because it shortens the ‘life’ of the fabric, requires repeated soaking (may be effective or maybe not), and it makes the socks feel stiff and rough. Not sure what’s in our mud, but it’s special because it does. not. come. out.
SO, I AM DONE WITH WHITE SOCKS!!!
Anyone else feel this way??
That's funny because I only buy white socks - and only in one size for ALL my kids. I get so tired of not being able to find a match with colored, designed, etc that I go for one size, one color fits all. (I think right now they're all wearing the sox that fit feet from 8-12 or something probably the average of their sizes.) We all have our breaking point with sox I guess! But my kids tend not to wear socks all summer, so it's mainly a winter issue around here.
ReplyDeleteWell, that would make life even easier if I purchased only one size for all! Thanks for the tip... I will put that to good use.
ReplyDeleteThe kids like to wear crocs or mock crocs during the summer - without socks. But, for field work or heavy yard work, they still need to wear socks and shoes/boots. So, I can't get around the stains on white.
I agree with the sock thing....with a trampoline, the kiddos are always running out in their socks, and forgetting to put shoes on afterward....we sure can't hand down socks in this house!
