MTU

002-6_thumb3

This idea is credited to my brilliant husband who gets tired of me getting tired of monitoring the computer/TV/Gameboy/DS/cell phone/general electronic time for our children.  He typed it up and made several copies to be handed out and posted in appropriate locations.

Before you ask for electronics time

  • Is your bed made?
  • Is your room picked up?
  • Is the toy room clean?
  • Is the basement clean?
  • Is the school room clean?
  • Are your chores (dishes or animal) done?
  • Is the lawn mowed? [Could be replaced with  -  Is the sidewalk shoveled? – in winter months]
  • Are the trees weeded?
  • Is the garden watered?
  • Is the garden weeded?
  • If the answer to any of these is NO, then don’t ask until completed!

Now, the list didn’t completely solve the problem, but it sure helped.  Until I forgot about it, and the kids forgot about it.  But, I found the list last night!  So, up it goes … right where the computer should be.

Except the computer is hidden right now.  Cuz, that’s how I deal with it – my dislike of regulating and keeping track of computer time.

Now the kids know how to get the computer back; they better work hard tomorrow.  I might just forget where I’ve hidden the computer … just like my hubby has forgotten (for real!) where he hid the Wii.  No, I’m not praying to St. Anthony for help in finding that lost item!

  1. LOVE this list!!! I need to do one like it in writing. I usually go through the verbal litany of "chores" before ANY free time, so they are tending to hide in their rooms reading to avoid asking me/getting more chores or a checkup on chores :)
Also, praying for you for clarity on the "big question" you need to answer. Know I have been praying for you for weeks!
Love the colorful chicks and we're laughing at the lack of WII right now. Same thing happened to Luke's camera (which was taken away for dicipline reasons and Curt doesnt' remember where he put it 6 mos ago! - a pain when his 4H project in digital photo was on there :)
Miss you - thanks for the Pereti books! Luke and I are happy. We are putting them on our "fun pile" of books to read as well as the read aloud Pendersons. LOTS less free time with school in it's second week!
