The Effect of Music

I NEED more music in my life.  Classical music has been a favorite of mine since ... well I really don't remember not listening to classical music because I studied dance from the age of three.  Classical music is incredibly relaxing - it's about the only thing that inspires my romantic side.  However, I forget to use it because my day is so cluttered up and I don't have a reliable CD player in my kitchen (most of my after school hours are spent in the kitchen area).  I've been searching for something similar to the spacemaker radio/cassette player I installed in my Fargo home so no valuable counter space is wasted with electronics.  But, I haven't found a spacemaker CD player with excellent reviews, yet.

I purchased the above pictured CD collection for Dash and his music study this year.  It includes Baroque selections from a variety of English, Italian, Mediterranean, and French composers, but focuses in particular on Bach (2 whole CD's are devoted to his works).

  1. I would like more music around the house, too. But there's so much noise already, it would have to be just the right type of music, like classical ... Let me know if you find a space-saver CD player with a good review!

  2. Sarah, that's exactly why I think 'we' need more music, especially classical. Our house is usually much louder than I would like; it makes me tense! And, when mom is tense... everything just kind of gets louder. So, I'm going to try classical music.

I'll let you know if I invest in any electronics.

  3. Very good point, Suzie. I will give it a try! In fact, I just borrowed a few classical CDs from the library, and I know I have a few in our CD cabinet. I will dig them out and start playing them and see if they don't help the "tense feelings" created from all that noise! =) Thank you!

  4. amen! everyday i keep saying to myself-i am going to bring the little cd player to the front room and play it in the mornings...hoping it will soothe the savage beasts!
but then we spread out all over the place and i wonder, what is the use, but maybe if it is playing lightly in the back drop it will lighten all of our moods!
    thanks for posting this.
i am going to try it tomorrow.
we have so many cd's on the lives of the composers and i planned on using them for their music appreciation anyway.
