Family on the Fourth

My whole family was together at Clear Lake (Now, that's a name! It's definitely NOT Tahoe!!) at my parents' lake trailer for the 4th of July. Mom always sets aside time for pics - it's what she does ... plan celebrations and group pics. She's very good at it; none of us went hungry.

Anyway, here's the group picture of my whole family. Grandma & Grandpa Golden Acres are in front - Miller is my maiden name, in case I haven't mentioned that before. My mom likes everyone to be coordinated, too. As you can see, guys, gals, grand-daughters & grand-sons match ... cute!

The Lahlum's - Graham (on my lap), Me, Eric, Angelina, Dash (standing in back), Zeke (next to eagle).

Wordless Thursday??? Nope!

It really would've been wordless yesterday, but I forgot to post! This is the sunrise from my back porch. I should've been out sitting and sipping a cup of chai tea .... but at least I captured a picture.

My doctor called yesterday. Surprising, because he doesn't usually have anything to call about. Turns out I need to start taking iron earlier than I anticipated. I usually have this to deal with, but not until later in pregnancy. It's hard to tell when I have an iron problem when I don't get much sleep at night ... it all feels like fatigue! Good thing I have my normal iron supplement on hand (Floradix - I'd recommend it to anyone).

Up and At'em Early

For the life of me, I cannot sleep past 5a when I'm at home. You'd think it would be easy without anyone here to wake me, but .... NO. So, rather than stay in bed trying to sleep, I got up. Of course, by 11a I needed a nap!

Last night, I cut out four pairs of Lil' Britches (sizes Newborn, 18-24 mos, 2T, and 4T) to be sewn for my contribution to my circle's Street Fair booth. I also cut out quilt pieces for Dash's (hopefully) Christmas gift - it'll fit his 'new to him, but otherwise old' full size bed. The quilt pattern is called 'Turning Twenty' ... as in 'turning twenty' fat quarters into a nice quilt. I actually purchased a kit, so I take no responsibility for the fabrics (even though I really like the sports theme and that's the reason I purchased the kit - it fits a boy's room perfectly). Anyway, that was enough for last night.

The quilt is all cut (above) and the Lil' Britches are all cut out, as well (below).

By 7a, I was done with one pair of britches. I took a break to go eat some breakfast and put my puffy feet up for a bit. Then, it was back to sewing.

I finished all four pairs of Lil' Britches by 4p. I took breaks throughout the day to take a nap, put my feet up, eat, and do a bit of laundry. Otherwise, I did nothing but sew. It rained good and steady over the noon hour and into the afternoon, so there was no watering gardens today.

Monday Surprise

When I got home on Monday afternoon, this little vine was finally blooming! I purchased a small plant this year ... because I was planting early ... but then came the hail. Poor little plant was set back quite a bit, but it should take off and climb up the trellis, now. It's called a Black-eyed Susan vine.

Happy 4th of July!

Have a Happy 4th of July! We'll be watching fireworks with family ... hopefully at the lake. Yes, there are 'lakes' in ND (well, that probably depends on your definition of LAKE), and the fireworks display by family and cousins is awesome.

**I'm really annoyed at blogger lately ... I sceduled a couple posts for when I was gone and blogger didn't post them as scheduled. So, while belated, I do hope you had a Happy 4th.

Simple Wednesday

Remember the daylilies I planted in my front planter ... I said I had no idea what color 'Big Smile' would turn out??? Well, last week a couple bloomed and definitely brought a big smile! It's absolutely beautiful and reminds me of a sunny day. The flowers didn't last more than two days, so I had to enjoy quickly!
